(Here’s what I did to promote an article I’m going to be posting on Medium and why I did it)

For my Instagram post, I kept the tone pretty informal while still providing a more in depth explanation in the caption about what my article will discuss. The image I created is meant to clearly highlight my topic and is designed to be bold and attention grabbing. I also included a Medium logo so users immediately know where the article will be published. In addition, I made sure to include some hashtags that relate to the topic I am writing about as well as a call out to the Medium platform.
In my opinion, Instagram serves as a middle ground between platforms like Twitter (now X) and LinkedIn. In other words, it’s not as short and simple as a Twitter post but also doesn’t need to have the professional tone of a LinkedIn post.

As I mentioned, I see Twitter as a highly informal app. I wanted my post to quickly grab viewers’ attention without being too wordy. That’s why my image features a short, witty phrase with a small Medium logo in the bottom corner. I also included a brief caption that explains what my article is about without over-explaining. Similar to my Instagram post, I added a few hashtags to help the algorithm reach users who may be interested in the topic.

Last but not least, I decided to create a more in-depth post for LinkedIn. Since the platform is used in a professional setting, I wanted to make the post both informative and engaging for those who come across it. My caption emphasizes why this topic is important to read about for the success of our professional careers.
The graphic features a quote from my article to encourage viewers to think more deeply about the topic. I also included information about my background to help show why, as an advertiser, this theme is something I’m passionate about. Additionally, I used hashtags to maintain a consistent theme across my posts while also helping the content reach professionals who may be interested in this discussion. Even on a professional platform like LinkedIn, hashtags can improve visibility and connect the post with those also in the industry.
Overall, I created each of my posts to best fit the platform I was working with. I think this was crucial for me to consider as our behaviors vary across different social media platforms. I also made sure to maintain a consistent visual style across all my graphics to reinforce my own brand consistency. This includes using different shades of blue with occasional red coloring and featuring the Medium logo on each post.
The final version of my article will be posted on Medium, I will give an update on when it is officially published so you all can check it out!
